Piko Wholefoods is a local shop in Christchurch that sells locally sourced, organic and sustainable food items. Piko is a popular shop for locals, however does not offer much in the way of an E-commerce experience for shoppers. Because of it's popularity, Piko Wholefoods is now at a stage where it is important to offer a robust online shopping experience if they are to continue to compete with the wholefoods market.
To reimagine Piko Wholefoods as an E-commerce website and offer an exciting and trustworthy online shopping experience for the users

Piko Wholefoods currently uses an email-based ordering system where customers are required to copy and paste a form into an email and manually list the items they wish to purchase. The website lacks an easily accessible and comprehensive product list, creating a frustrating experience for shoppers attempting to place orders.
The proposed solution is to develop an e-commerce platform that allows users to create accounts, easily browse products, and add items to their cart. They can then securely check out and select a delivery option that best suits their needs.
The research process combined both qualitative and quantitative methods. I conducted interviews and distributed surveys to Piko Wholefoods shoppers, gathering insights into their preferences and challenges. The data collected informed the creation of a customer journey map and user persona, which served as key references to ensure an empathetic and objective design approach. The findings highlighted the importance of providing users with a clear product list, a straightforward ordering process, and a secure checkout experience.
Here are examples of wireframes I created to plan the website layout. These wireframes served as a crucial guide during the design process and informed the creation of the final high-fidelity mockups. Some adjustments were made during the final design phase. For instance, while the original wireframes included a basic search and filter bar, user feedback highlighted the need for a more detailed filtering system, which I incorporated into the final design.
This is the final design, which I’m incredibly proud of. If I were to take this project further, I would incorporate product reviews and nutritional information to enhance the user experience. This project has truly inspired me, and I’m excited to dive into my next challenge. Thank you for taking the time to read my case study!
